Okay y’all, this was a live-it-up month, not a read-it-all month. So this’ll be short n’ sweet.
In the Woods by Tana French
An Irish murder mystery that has eerie parallels to an unsolved case from the detective’s childhood. At the end of the day, I can handle an unreliable narrator, even an unlikable protagonist, but I cannot stand an incompetent one. It’s long and slow and overrated if you ask me. [The audiobook is unremarkable.]

Review for Ruby Dixon stans:
They’re great!
Review if you’ve never read a Ruby Dixon novel:
LOOK AWAY!! Jk; there’s no shame in my reading game. But definitely don’t start with these.
Barbarian’s Bride (Ice Planet Barbarians #19) by Ruby Dixon
I’d been waiting to get this one on audio from the library since last summer. It was meh. Nora and Dagesh reminisce on their first month of resonance while awaiting the birth of their third kit. I loved the thoughtful male and his surprise Jewish wedding ceremony for Nora, but overall the book dragged and was a snooze fest. We get it, she wants some BDSM but is too afraid to ask for it. He wants her to be happy but can’t read her mind. The amount of content in here was more appropriate for a novella. A bummer for this to be the final installment of the series.
my rating: 2.5 stars
Veronica’s Dragon (Icehome #2) by Ruby Dixon
The Icehome series is basically Ice Planet Barbarians 2.0. I mean actually should just be the same series, but I’m guessing never-ending series becomes a barrier of entry for new readers.
My first dragon-shifter romance and I hope it’s not my last! Not a perfect paranormal romance, but I loved listening as Veronica and Ashtar developed feelings and empathy for each other. A lot of walking in each other’s shoes to understand why their partner responds differently.
my rating: 3 stars
When She’s Fearless (Risdaverse #10) by Ruby Dixon
Okay this is a steamy little novella I ate up. As this is my first dip into the Risdaverse pond, I relied heavily on context clues, but it never slowed me down. This is a different planet from Ice Planet Barbarians and Icehome, but I could still figure out what’s what. Basically this planet is a sanctuary for humans who had been abducted and enslaved by aliens. I loved that both main characters, Chelsea & Hrrrusek, were plus-size!
